Reception for Ildar and Azaliya Urazmetov from Kazan, Russia.

Several Board members of the Bryan-College Station Sister Cities Association attended a reception for Ildar and Azaliya Urazmetov from Kazan, Russia, on Aug. 19 at the home of Tom and Suzy Arnold. The Urazmetovs' local host was Morris Gelber, a former Sister Cities Board Member who traveled to Kazan five times and taught there for a semester. Azaliya spent a year in Bryan-College Station, while teaching at Bryan High School, and made many friends here, including Gelber. The Urazmetovs' daughters both now live in the United States. The Bryan-College Station Sister Cities held high school exchange programs with Kazan in the 1990s and early 2000s. Kazan is now an emeritus Sister City of Bryan-College Station.
