Music Exchange with Sister City Greifswald,Germany.
Choir from Greifswald, Germany, Performed in Bryan-College Station
The Late Night Singers, a choral group from Greifswald, Germany, offered several local concerts during the week of April 9-14.
Three free performances were held at First Presbyterian Church in Bryan, Peace Lutheran Church in College Station and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Brenham. The 12-voice choir, from Bryan-College Station’s Sister City in Germany, joined members of The Brazos Valley Chorale and Blinn College students for the performances.
The choir was directed by Dr. Sigrid Biffar and their repertoire included works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, compositions from the Romantic period as well as contemporary a cappella choral works. The concerts included chorus music of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as arrangements of pop music and international folk music.
Coordinating the international music exchange program with Greifswald were the Bryan-College Station Sister Cities Association and the Brazos Valley Chorale, in conjunction with Blinn College and the Goethe Institut of Germany.
In addition to the free performances, the Late Night Singers and the Brazos Valley Chorale Chamber Singers held a ticketed benefit concert at The Grand Stafford Theater in Bryan to raise funds for future exchange programs.
